Plasma & LCD displays, also known as flat panels have three options when installing them. There is the countertop option, the wall mount option, and the motorized mount. The countertop option is the fastest, and easiest. It can be accomplished by the homeowner. It is practical for people who have large expensive entertainment centers, or who like to re-arrange their furniture from time to time.

The wiring for this type is normally done behind the furniture holding the device. The wall mount option is a more complicated, but, aesthetically more pleasing. This is accomplished by a professional A/V installing company. The bracket, depending on display size and type requires securing it to 2 wall studs. The wiring is then run through the wall or ceiling to the video source. You may also have to add or relocate an existing electrical outlet, to power the display. Most always, when this installation is complete the display resembles a picture hanging on the wall. The motorized mount is the most complicated and expensive way to install a flat panel display. This will require a professional installation by a qualified A/V installer. Most people who utilize motorized displays do not want to see the device when not in use. Some of the types of motorized mounts are as follows: Vision Art, this is a picture frame that surrounds the display and has a replica of a painting or maybe a family portrait. When the display is turned off, the artwork will roll down and hide the device leaving the appearance of a picture hanging on the wall. Next is the moving mount, this will either lift the display into the ceiling or fold and hide the device under you bed. Then lastly is the display lift, this is a console that raises and lowers the display.
